The Nottingham Castle is once again playing host to some outdoor theatrical shenanigans this summer, offering a chance to enjoy a bit of culture without the confines of a roof. If you fancy a bit of drama under the sky, you are encouraged to bring along your finest picnic spread, a comfy chair (preferably one that does not block everyone else's view), and a blanket to ward off any rogue breezes. Do not worry too much about a bit of drizzle, they are pretty hardy types and the show will go on unless it is genuinely apocalyptic. Just remember to wear something comfortable and sensible shoes, and probably do not bring your grand piano for seating.
On Wednesday 30 July, the Pantaloons Theatre Company will be performing their take on Robin Hood. Gates open at 5pm, with the show kicking off at 6pm. Expect a rather unique and probably hilarious retelling of everyone's favourite green clad outlaw. Apparently, it involves live music and a bit of audience interaction, so prepare to be potentially roped in. Prince John and the Sheriff are plotting, as they do, but let us see if Robin can outwit them yet again. It is bound to be a grand old romp. Entrance to the castle for these events is included in your ticket, so no need to buy separate admission. Tickets are twenty quid for adults, fourteen for kids between five and sixteen and NUS students, or sixty for a family of two adults and two children.
