Roddy Woomble writes lyrics that feel like they wandered in from a dream, sets them to a warm baritone and somehow always finds a tune you can hum on the way home. He is widely regarded as one of Scotland's finest contemporary songwriters, modest about it and quietly persistent in his craft.

Across sixteen albums in total, nine with Idlewild and seven solo, he has wandered from punk to a spell of chart flirting melodic rock, through folk and, more recently, into electronica with the Almost Nothing project. Each record arrives with the low key grace he is known for. His forthcoming album reunites him with songwriting partner Sorren Maclean and was recorded with contributions from family and friends in an old church on the Isle of Mull, which sounds either very peaceful or brilliantly echoey.
