On Saturday 4th October 2025, head to RSPB Sherwood Forest for National Fungi Day, kicking off from 10am until 3pm. It's free, and the folks from the Notts Fungi Group will be on hand to share their expertise through walks, talks, and exhibits that dive into the quirky, intricate lives of fungi. Think of it as a gentle nudge into why these underground oddballs keep the forest ticking without us even noticing.

You can snag a spot on the walks by turning up early and booking on the day, first come first served, so no faffing about with reservations. Just a heads up, this isn't your chance to play mushroom hunter, since picking any fungi from this special scientific site is against the law and could land you in hot water with the rangers.
