While ice skating is a sport enjoyed by kids and parents alike throughout the UK, Nottingham parents are lucky to have access to the best facilities in the country – the National Ice Centre.

Whether you’re looking to have a bit of fun with the kids or they have decided they want to be the next Torvill or Dean (who, by the way, trained at the centre) the National Ice Arena is a fantastic destination for all ages. With parent and toddler skating sessions, family party sessions and family ‘paint and skate’, the National Ice Arena is a truly family friendly affair. Here’s what they offer for kids and parents.

Parent and Toddler skating session

Even the youngest members of the family can join in the fun with the centre’s Parent and Toddler skating sessions. The sessions are designed for children aged 18 months to 5 years, with size 5 being the smallest skate size available for toddlers. With experienced instructors running the sessions, children will learn new skills through play in a safe environment, from standing on the ice to increasing confidence and becoming confident skaters.

Children will have the opportunity to use on-ice equipment characters, including the banana skating aids, which can fit two children at once. Parent and Toddler sessions are held every Tuesday and Friday from 1:15pm to 1:45pm and on Sundays from 10am to 10:45am. The cost is £6.50 for one parent and one toddler, including skate hire and an extra £3.50 for another toddler. Places are limited, so please call the box office on 0843 373 3000 to book.
