The Young Lions will host Serbia at The City Ground on Thursday 12 October (7.45pm kick-off).

It will be the first time that this age group have played on home soil since winning the U21 European Championship in July. That U21 title was England's first in 39 years as they beat Spain in the final in Batumi, Georgia having not conceded a goal throughout the entire tournament.

The reigning champions will now set out on the road to the 2025 U21 EURO in Slovakia. That qualifying campaign will begin with a trip to Luxembourg in September before Serbia are the opponents in Nottingham.

It will only be the fourth time that the U21s have played at The City Ground having previously played on the banks of the River Trent in 1982 v Hungary, 1988 v Scotland and 2009 v France.

Head coach Lee Carsley said: “We're excited to be playing at such an iconic venue because we know The City Ground always generates a fantastic atmosphere.
