On Monday 4 May 2026, Stefan Donner from Vienna takes over the Binns Organ at Albert Hall Nottingham for a lunchtime concert kicking off at 1.10pm and wrapping up by 1.55pm. Hes lined up a quirky mix including Peter Planyavskys Toccata alla Rumba, which sounds like it might get your salsa shoes tapping mid aria, alongside Bachs Largo from Sonata in C Minor BWV 526, Mendelssohns Sonata in B flat Major op 65 no 4, Mozarts Andante in F Major KV 616, and Guilmants Final from Sonata 1 op 42. Admission is a fiver, and youre welcome to munch your own packed lunch while he works the keys.

Stefan is no stranger to the big leagues, with top honours from the University of Music Vienna in organ piano and conducting, plus a masters from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, and stints studying with the likes of Olivier Latry. Hes scooped prizes like first in the 2010 Franz Schmidt Organ Competition and third in Dublins international bash, and hes recorded CDs including Bachs Goldberg Variations on a 1745 harpsichord. The mans gigged everywhere from Europe to Kazakhstan Australia and the US, taught in Poland and Kazakhstan, and even debuted at Viennas Musikverein with Saint Saens Organ Symphony. These days hes tutoring piano at Viennas University of Music and Performing Arts, but hell be bringing his Viennese flair to Nottingham for this bank holiday treat.
