It’s no secret that Nottingham’s famous Sherwood Forest is synonymous with Robin Hood, but what you may not know is just how many activities there are for families to enjoy. Below is a small snapshot of the huge amount of things for families to do at Sherwood Forest.

The Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre is located at the entrance to the country park, and has a children’s playground, shops, the open air theatre, activities centre and is the location of the Forest Table Restaurant.

Sherwood Forest Fun Park Sherwood Country Park, Edwinstowe, Mansfield, NG21 9QA 01623 823536 For more information: Click here
This family amusement park is located just a five minute walk from the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and has rides, activities and attractions for the whole family, including:
Admission to the park is free, and there is a pay as you go token system. The park opens daily from 10am to 6pm during March and November.

Robin Hood Festival Sherwood Forest Country Park, Edwinstowe, Mansfield, NG21 9QA 01623 823202 For more information: Read on here
The Robin Hood Festival is, of course, a celebration of the legendary Sherwood Forest inhabitant and his band of Merry Men. Taking place every summer at the end of July and beginning of August, the festival features a host of colourful, costumed characters and entertainers, music events, forestry tales and plenty of food and drink. There are daily Children’s Outdoor Theatre performances in the theatre, which attracts a small charge.

Now is the time to unleash your inner ape in Sherwood Forest. Go Ape is famous for its Tree Top Adventure obstacle course with rope ladders, zip wires and tarzan swings. Children aged 10 and over can have a go at the course. Younger children aged 6 to 12 years can take part in the Tree Top Junior obstacle course, which has been designed for this age group but is just as fun!

Sherwood Pines Mountain Bike Cycle Trails
Sherwood Pines Forest Park has a number of excellent cycle and mountain bike trails for the whole family, including the Family Trail, Adventure Trail and the challenging Kitchener’s Trail.

This fantastic outdoor activity centre boasts loads of exciting things to do, including quad biking, 4x4 driving, mud buggies, paintball, archery and an assault course. At the Junior Jungle, children aged eight years and over can take advantage of these activities, all specifically tailored to kids.

Major Oak is a veteran oak tree located close to the Sherwood Forest Visitors Centre. It has strong ties to the legend of Robin Hood and is said to be the place where he and his Merry Men slept.
