Tilly Pots Ravenshead

by BecSorby (follow)
There’s a fantastic new trend of paint and pottery experience popping up all over the UK, including Nottingham! Tilly Pots is a new venture in Ravenshead that provides a fun, creative environment for children and carers alike.

If your child can hold a paintbrush, they can come along and have a go at painting their own piece of pottery. The concept is simple – choose a piece of pottery from the collection and get creative with the brush. Once completed, the painted piece is then coated in a special glaze and fired through a kiln and it comes back to you looking lovely and shiny!

There are heaps of different pottery items to choose from, including cute money boxes, cups and mugs, plates, animal figurines and so many more. The price starts from just £5, including the cost of paints, use of brushes, sponges, paint pallets and firing.

When you arrive, one of the staff members will explain the best way to paint your pottery using one of the 30 choices of paint colours provided. You may, like me, end up painting your child’s masterpiece while they flit around, looking at everything except the thing they are supposed to be painting. Oh well. Can’t win ‘em all! It’s all about spending time together….right?

Once the piece is finished, just let one of the staff members know and they will organise for it to be dipped in a glaze and fired in the kiln. It takes about a week, and they will let you know when it’s ready to be picked up.

If you have something specific or unusual in mind that you’d like to paint for yourself or for a gift, it may be worth asking in advance if they have that item in stock to be painted, and if not, you can order the item in advance.

One of the best things about this type of venue – besides spending a lovely morning or afternoon with your child – is the fact they provide coffee for the eternally sleep deprived parents among us. You can enjoy a fresh ground coffee served in a Cafetiere, leaf tea or a bite to eat while the children paint. Or you paint. They also serve fruit juices and soft drinks.

Tilly Pots is buggy friendly and has toilet and change facilities. You don’t need to book, but it is advisable if you have a large group. They also offer children’s birthday parties, including teddy bear parties, foam clay parties, chocolate parties, candle parties and a cupcake party! You can read more about birthday parties here.

Along with pottery painting, Tilly Pots also sells locally handmade soaps and hand poured soy candles using natural products.

You don’t even need to be the most creative soul around to enjoy a morning or afternoon out at Tilly Pots with the kids. It’s all about spending time with the children in a fun environment.
