The Robin Hood Town Tour

by BecSorby (follow)
If you’re curious to know more about Nottingham’s very own legendary figure, Robin Hood, then the Robin Hood Town Tour is one of the very best ways to learn – taught by the man himself!

‘The man’ is actually local actor and entertainer Ezekial Bone, who will transform into Robin Hood and take you on a tour of his favourite haunts. The tours are most suitable for and will probably be best appreciated by children aged 10 and over, although younger children are welcome.

The Robin Hood Town Tour will take visitors and locals to key sites in the city and you will visit places associated with the legend of Robin Hood, including the city’s underground caves, the Council House, Theatre Royal and the Old Market Square.

The story of Robin Hood is said to date back over 700 years and grew from simple ballads, evolving into the legendary tale that exists today, about a man who robbed from the rich to give to the poor, lived in Sherwood Forest and had a band of Merry Men to help fight the Sheriff of Nottingham.

As Robin Hood, Ezekial Bone will take you on a thoroughly entertaining and fun journey throughout Nottingham. He will take you to various places synonymous with the legend of Robin Hood and you’ll learn plenty of information and facts about the history and culture of the city.

The Robin Hood Town Tour will also take you to Nottingham Castle, the Lace Market, the Old Country Gaol and St Mary’s Churchyard – there are hidden surprises to be found all over this quirky tour and you won’t be disappointed!

The tour starts at the Cross Keys pub in Fletcher Gate. It is 150 minutes in duration and around 1.3 miles in distance, making it a perfect activity for families with older children.

Ezekial Bone can also organise other tours of Nottingham, including the Robin Hood Lace Market Tour, in which visitors learn about how it was once the lace capital of the world. You can also take the Robin Hood Nottingham Castle Tour, which covers Standard Hill, Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, the Brewhouse Yard and the Salutation Inn caves.

The Robin Hood Town Tour is a truly unique way to see the sites of the city and learn a little more about the legend of Robin Hood, as told by a local. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Nottingham locals, families with older children and visitors to the city to hear one of the most famous tales in the world.
