On Wednesday 8 April 2026 from 1pm to 2pm at Nottingham Contemporary theres a free BSL tour of Dala Nassers Cemetery of Martyrs exhibition led by local artist Zoe Milner donations welcome if you feel like it. The show turns the gallery into a quirky graveyard using frottage that charcoal rubbing trick where Nasser has taken impressions from the graves of big name artists writers poets and thinkers from Lebanon Egypt Jordan and even England spanning from the Arab Renaissance right up to now. Its a nod to folks who battled for freedom under occupation their ideas still echoing about real sovereignty in Western Asia though expect more sonic vibes and sculptures than actual spooks.

Zoe Milner Nottingham born and raised profoundly Deaf from a hearing family grew up fiddling with bold typography sparked by the BSL ACT NOW campaign that gave everyone a nudge about Deaf community struggles. Shes a fine artist who slings colour to capture the grind of prejudice frustration and comms mishaps paints tension like its building to a punchline. Eleven years at Deaf school then a First Class Fine Art degree from Nottingham Trent Uni in 2023 shes since teamed up with City Arts Nottingham Derby QUAD Cockpit Studio OutsideIn and Flare Arts as Curatorial Fellow. Meet at Reception in the Galleries its BSL only no voiceover wheelchair friendly and if you need extra access tweaks email info at nottinghamcontemporary.org or ring 0115 948 9750.
