If youre in Nottingham or nearby on Thursday 2nd October 2025 come catch at the Nottingham Arts Theatre starting at 7.30pm and wrapping up around 8.45pm. Tickets are 18 quid. Picture this a Vietnam vet named Jimmy Vandenburg stuck in Michigans rusty old industrial heartland in 2024 dealing with a crumbling economy a dash of political gloom and some heavy personal baggage. Its like if Bruce Springsteens famous song decided to tell its own story but with more therapy sessions than guitar solos.

The play pokes at how smooth talking politicians can charm the overlooked folks and end up splitting families and old friendships right down the middle all while mixing in a bit of laugh out loud humour some proper gut punches and maybe even a glimmer of making amends. Its the sort of thing thats raw and right now without getting preachy just a bloke second guessing his whole life story. Critics called it an extraordinary tour de force thats uplifting and devastating in turns and a gripping heart wrenching tale that every generation should see about a guy who thought he had it all figured out and now isnt so sure.
